Dear Alice,
I am writing to while you enjoy your vacation in Rome. I am doing very well in my reign. I have taken over Scotland. I restarted the conflict that had ended. After about a year of fighting we have captured Scotland. After that it was a synch to take over the French. The only hard part was that the Spanish helped them because the French could not fight for themselves. But after a while we took them down and took over France.
I also have maintained the economic ties between England and Flanders. I have also created a navy which gave me the nickname “King of the Sea”. To help us in any problems I have also got the support of Ghent, Ypres, Bruges, and Cassel.
After doing all of these wonderful things it makes me very happy and proud that I was the youngest son of Edward the third, my father.
I am very angry that I might be forced to make a treaty with Scotland. That’ll mean that all that work to capture them was for nothing. I mean really. People are also getting angry with me because during my reign the Hundred Year’s War began. It was not my fault is was my fathers who left it for me to take care of. That is the only thing I did not like about him. He left things for other people to do instead of doing things himself.
I hope this letter gets to you well.

Yours Truly,
King Edward the Third.
